The Broadcom ACPL-M483/P483/W483 is a series of fast-speed optocouplers designed for high-performance digital isolation applications. Featuring an AlGaAs LED and a photo detector with an integrated Schmitt trigger, these optocouplers provide logic-compatible waveforms without the need for external wave shaping. The totem pole output stage eliminates the requirement for a pull-up resistor, enabling direct drive of Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) or gate drives. These devices are engineered to minimize propagation delay differences, making them ideal for enhancing inverter efficiency by reducing switching dead time. They are suitable for applications such as IPM interface isolation, isolated IGBT/MOSFET gate drives, AC and brushless DC motor drives, industrial inverters, and general digital isolation.
